The Travesty of Iraq

Reader comment on item: Wasted U.S. Spending in Iraq (and Afghanistan): $53 billion and Counting

Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Nov 23, 2009 at 10:59

Once again, the USA had good intentions, but didn't finish the job. Our military will pull out of Iraq and leave the Iraqis to deal with the leftover problems, which seem too overwhelming to even think about. We should not go into a war if we cannot win the war---I feel very badly for the Iraqi people, but they must immediately learn to not depend on our country and start working for themselves. If there is a lesson to be learned from this war, it is that sticking our nose into other country's problems make more problems for us and them. Let us concentrate on the problems of this country for a change, and put some much-needed money into it rather than Iraq.
