The unanimously hostile reaction to my note on an conjectural alliance with the Left against Islamism left in me the impression that many anti-Islamists are merely readjusted anti-communists. I think it is time to forget certain cold-war hatreds. Does not Elliott Abrams swear brotherfood with Al Fatah even as he disses Hamas? Abrams did yeoman service covering up war crimes in Central America in the 1980s, for the anti-Commie cause. Time to move on.
