Live in it, but live to criticize it?

Reader comment on item: Hating America's Success

Submitted by Joe Clark (United States), Oct 13, 2004 at 11:12

This hatred towards America, especially self- hatred, has been on the increase over the past 40 years. I know many people who will do nothing but blame America for the third world's problems. Whatever the ill or suffering there is in the world, it all somehow comes around to America. Forget our foreign aid, forget our laws that allow people to openly criticize. In these critics' minds, America is an evil empire that seeks to subjugate the globe and force them to buy from Wal-Mart and eat at Mcdonald's. They have this mindset due to the focus on re-writing of history in our public schools and the indoctrination (liberal) of a four year university. It is sad, because in the founding of our country, "liberal" was a word that did not have the connotation it had now. Now it is a reflection of leftist, socialistic hogwash.
