Maybe you should qualify your statement and say that the Kurds hold the distinction of being the longest indigenous people on the Asian continent to never have their own state"

That totally depends on what you mean by 'state' and on the face of it is a false statement. Australian aborigines for example have been known to occupy Australia for approximately 40,000 years. They have never had a 'state' - even before Europeans took over more than 200 years ago. Although they were although they were all of the same race - they had 200 different languages and thousands of tribes - often fighting each other. They do not have a 'state' now - though they do have vast amounts of territory in tribal areas - some of these bigger than many European states.

I'm sure you'll find the Sami people of Scandinavia have a history as long as if not longer than the Kurds - and these people still do not have a 'state' either.
