Turkey's secular state is eroded by AKP and such like. The Islamist wolf behind the democratic mask of AKP is asserting itself in quantum leaps.

AKP can turn full scale into Umma and Middle-east politics. This is only going to add more confusion into Middle-east and the Arab-Israeli conflict will prolong for two more generations. It will give moral boost to Islamist politicians and terrorists that somehow Turkey will come to their aid. OTOH, it will raise suspicions of Arab elites, who will resent any Turkish imperialism in the Middle-east.

As to Turkey's entry into European Union, you can forget it. Countries like France who are keenly watching the situation will not allow an Islamist state into EU.
