Reader comment on item: Affirmative Action in Beauty Contests?

Submitted by Jane (United States), May 17, 2010 at 19:43

... The reason beauty pageants are losing money and support is because it is 2010 and most people realize that women are more valuable than T&A. It is shocking that beauty pageants still exist. Shocking that parents support daughters in them. Shocking that pup culture still tries to defend beauty pageants as having value in an intelligent culture. Beauty pageants are one of the many things wrong with American culture. A person's value is not skin deep - nor is it something to be bought with plastic surgery - nor is it something a seductive, porn-like pose can create. A person's value is inherent and must be fostered by parents and community. Sadly for these girls and women - they will grow up believing that they have only one asset.
