Is your question "Why doesn't Israel go back to the 1967 borders and the Palestians be content with that compromise?"

The Palestinians and most of the Arab world have been committed, since 1948, of running "Israel into the sea". That position has been consistent for 60 years. The only thing that has changed is their military capability to accomplish this goal.

Adolf Hitler was a very honest man. It was his goal to annihilate the Jewish people, and he nearly accomplished it. Only a superior military power stopped him. Why would Israel return land they annexed in a war started by the Arab nations to "push them into the sea"? Doesn't it make more sense for them to hold the land they acquired as a buffer against the next time some Arab nation tries to "push them into the sea" as promised by Ahmadinejad?

Ahmadinejad is also a very honest man - he intends to annihilate Israel once he gets the bomb - personally, I believe him.

This time, Neville Chamberlain has been reincarnated in President Obama - It is the USA that will be lost in his narcissitic naivete' not Israel. She and the Jewish people are, after all, the apple of God's eye, and this time - THEY SHALL NOT BE MOVED!!
