Reader comment on item: Netanyahu's Quiet Success

Quote

"Eastern Jerusalem, a territory legally part of Israel for nearly thirty years."

Unquote.

Legally on whose book? Israel invades and occupies a land, and then annex it, and all of a sudden it becomes "legally" theirs? This reminds me of German occupation of France.

Israeli occupation of the west bank including east Jerusalem is not recognized by a single country, except the occupying country, it will not last.

Daniel Pipes replies:

To remind you, Israel did not "invade and occupy" Jerusalem in 1967 but it defended itself from unprovoked attack. Big difference.

As for the future, we shall see.
