Reader comment on item: Israel's War on Hamas: A Dozen Thoughts

Submitted by Mike Biber (United States), Dec 31, 2008 at 12:45

I agree with the victory of Arab PR versus Israeli. When the casualties are much heavier on the Arab side and the weapons and technology much better on the Israeli then it is difficult to convince the world that the Arabs are not the prime victims! This problem is greatly magnified by the one-sided pro-Arab news and opinion coverage. Part of the news problem is that many of the reporters who do the reporting from the West Bank and Gaza are Arabs, presumably because they have better access to and communication with Arabs. This contributes to the one-sided coverage.

As for "victory" I am not sure what Danile Pipes believes constitutes "victory." I don't believe | that Hamas or Hezbollah are going to surrender. Perhaps, the realization by the more conservative Arab countries that supporting the Hs will ultilmately hurt their regimes will lead to their beginning to reduce support of Hs. For example, Egypt could greatly reduce the smuggling of weapons into Gaza and Jordan the Wes Bank.
