Reader comment on item: The Aftermath of Attack in Gaza

This man Salah Shehade was a very dangerous man, who had caused so much loss of life in Israel - he was good in evading the Israeli authorities too, and surrounded himself with a buffer, so to speak of "innocent" civilians - he shamelessly used them as a human shield!!!

It seems Israel killed him just before he was planning to attack residents of Gush Katif. I really think it was a case of kill, or be killed.
I certainly do not think that the Israelis intended to kill those civilians, just as I do not think that the US, for example intended to kill those Afghani civilians attending the wedding party, or even those 4 Canadian servicemen - terrible accidents all of them.
It's just that this is the nature of terrorism - terrorists do not fight come out to fight in battle the way a regular army does, in a regular war - they commit random acts of violence/murder against all segments of society, and then run back to hide in the midst of their 'civilian populations', more like terrorist swamps, where they raise up others to be like them. So, I appreciate Israel's problem in targeting these individualswithout harming anyone else.

Europe lambasting Israel over this is very hypocritical. Wasn't she a part of NATO that caused tremendous loss of life amongst the Serbian population in 1999? No, people in glass-houses shouldn't throw stones.

This was clearly a case of 'all being fair in love or war'.
