I condemn Hamas, I condemn the IDF

Reader comment on item: The Aftermath of Attack in Gaza

There are a large group of Palestinians involved in terrorism. These I condemn.
The IDF has committed a horrible act, this I condemn.
No political or military target is worth a innocent human life, collateral damage or not.
It's not a matter of us or them. To what standard can can we hold ourselves up to when the time comes? As Jews, we must value the lives of all people equally.
If they slaughter Jews, does that set aside our Jewish nature so that we can disregard our own slaughter? No in my eyes.
What the US does in Afghanistan, or the Russians in Chechnya or anyone else means little, because we have always held ourselves up to a higher standard. The IDF used to be the most moral army in the world, look what Hamas and the PLO have reduced us to. Would I kill innocent Palestinians because it may save Jewish lives in the future? No, never. Call me naive, perhaps, but at least I dont celebrate the killing of civilians like most involved the Middle East. Shehadah was one man, his time could have come later with the rest of the terrorists. The occupation must end and then we can fight opponents of peace together.
