What is the reason why Muslims are afraid of?

I noticed that Soviet leaders were in the past afraid of Muslims . This is so apparent in Lev Nikolayvitch Tolstoy's famous novel War and Peace where he says TATARS ARE COMING . Indeed this shows the Russian leader's fear of Muslims in the past and even till now . However , the word ISLAM itself if translated has to do with submission to ALLAH the creator of the universe and peace . Therefore I ask you leaders WHAT IS THE MOTIVE BEYOND YOUR FEAR OF ISLAM SPREAD ???!!! Why don't you fear the spread of Buddhism ,for instance .

As a conclusion I ask you if you please to read more about Islam and not to judge things you don't know about , only you hear others saing bad things about them and you immitate them . NO THAT'S WRONG !!!
