Looking this over in '02, I have to say you were a bit over optomistic.
One thing stands out: it is obvious to us in the West why the Muslim world has been left behind. They stopped where they were, we pushed ahead. This strikes me as the most important message we must send the Islamic world: 'if you aren't part of the journey, you will be left ever further behind.' But how do we get this across?
