Reader comment on item: Jewish and Arab Demographics in Jerusalem

Submitted by Charles Gruenspan (United States), May 10, 2007 at 08:00

The solution to the demographic problems in Israel is the application of universal military conscription to ALL citizens and permanent residents, including Haredi and Muslims. As long as Arabs (and Haredis) are exempt from military service they will not integrate into the Israeli culture. The danger of maintaining a segregated society is greater in the long run than integrating the military.
