Submitted by Robert Solot (Mexico), Jun 30, 2006 at 14:19 I agree with Dr. Pipes the this so-called recognition has to be a war aim for Israel. What I object to is this recognition be a negotiation strategy. Of course, no one requires "recognition of their right to exist", if they exist! Existence is a given in any other negotiation, with anyone, anytime--except (apparently) for the Israelis. Even less, the "implicit" recognition contained in the "Prisoners' Document". This is a transparent strategy to get Israel to make concessions, via the EU. I'm hopeful so far that the Olmert government has not responded to this, even a little bit.
