Israel's legitimacy rests on its embrace of liberty
Reader comment on item: Israel Does Not Need Palestinian Recognition?
in response to reader comment: in my opinion

Submitted by PRODOS (Australia), Jun 26, 2006 at 09:16

I sympathise strongly with Menachem Begin's convictions on Israel's "right to exist".

He is also spot on when he characterizes Palestinian Authority based organizations as "gangs of murderers bent on destroying the State of Israel".

In fact Terence Sibler (in the previous comment) is even closer to the mark when he refers to them as:

"... quasi religious suicidal cults which [want] to rule the world."

Negotiating with the likes of Hamas (or Fatah) gives these thugs the appearance of legitimacy when they have none. And it undermines the legitimacy of the only free, democratic nation in the Middle East: Israel.

Israel's legitimacy rests on its embrace of liberty. It is a moral, prosperous, peace-loving nation.

What is the basis of the PA's legitimacy? What on earth can justify it's "right to exist"?

Best Wishes,

PRODOS
