A question of reciprocity?Reader comment on item: Israel Does Not Need Palestinian Recognition? Submitted by Saikat Biswas (United Kingdom), Jun 22, 2006 at 15:25 Dr Pipes, I should like to ask you a question as an outside observer. Over the years, Israel has made a supremely commendable effort in assimilating Palestinian Arabs into the populace. The Arab Israelis enjoy as much social, economic and religious freedom as their Jewish counterparts. Such magnanimity may not be entirely successful in removing the inveterate hatred of Islamists, but how do you think the average Palestinian views the predicament of the Arab Israelis? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: As I indicated at "'The Hell of Israel Is Better than the Paradise of Arafat'," there is widespread understanding that Israel is a far more decent place to live than anywhere else in the neighborhood.
