Reader comment on item: Muslim Europe
Submitted by Aidan Maconachy (Canada), Sep 11, 2005 at 12:19The popular cultural revolution of the 1960's helped to create the conditions that has allowed militant Islam to make significant headway in Europe. In the 60's traditional European values, marriage, religion - were all targeted by "hipsters" who offered nothing in their place except a culture of licence and knee jerk rebellion. The initial pop revolution was elaborated upon by liberal academics and intellectuals who attempted to demonize every aspect of traditional western society, even to the point of concocting codes of political correctness in an effort to silence any voices that dared to challenge their secular heterodoxy.
The breakdown of families and the emergence of a defiant individualism, brought about new types of social and psychological dysfunction. A culture of the alienated characterized by divorce, family strife, promiscuity, contempt for religion and traditional values increasingly became the norm rather than the exception.
Muslim immigrants by contrast, although ironically patronized as "displaced people" in search of a new home, preserved every vestige of the traditionalism that knit them together in a powerful social network. Far from regarding themselves as vulnerable outsiders, they established communities in which traditional Islamic values were placed front and center.
Ever since Mohammad's sojourn in Medina, Islam has viewed itself as a proselytizing force; a militant sword that would one day subjugate the lands of the infidel. The vast influx of muslim immigrants into Europe, can on one level, be seen as the front line of this force. This contention isn't merely a paranoid view of the besieged western conservative, it has been stated many times by Islamic leaders themselves, who make no bones about their aggrandizing ambitions in Europe. Former Algerian President, Houari Boumedienne, said this in a speech at the UN ...
"One day millions of men will leave the southern hemisphere to go to the northern hemisphere. And they will not go there as friends. Because they will go there to conquer it. And they will conquer it with their sons. The wombs of our women will give us victory."
The Italian writer Oriana Fallaci points out that what Islamic armies have not been able to do in over a thousand years of war, namely the establishment of an Islamic society in Europe - can now be achieved in less than a century with open gate immigration and high birth rates.
A Muslim cleric in Turkey expressed this international Islamic agenda very succinctly when he said ..."thanks to your democratic laws we will invade you. Thanks to our Islamic laws we will conquer you."
Oriana Fallaci has referred to western liberals as masochists who bend over backward to accommodate what can loosely be described as "an invasion". In reference to European liberals she has this to say ..."they revere the invaders and slander the defenders, absolve the delinquents and condemn the victims, weep for the Taliban and curse the Americans, forgive the Palestinians for every wrong and the Israelis for nothing."
In England radical Islam has made powerful inroads, and this isn't a recent development either. Some twenty years ago a document published by the Islamic Foundation in the northern English city of Leicester had this to say ...
"...an organized struggle to change the existing society into an Islamic society based on the Koran and the Sunna and make Islam, which is a code for entire life, supreme and dominant, especially in the socio-political spheres… the ultimate objective of the Islamic movement shall not be realized unless the struggle is made by locals. For it is only they who have the power to change the society into an Islamic society."
In this post, I thought I would offer these direct quotes from Islamic spokespersons, because when these same comments come from the mouths of western conservatives, they are either dismissed by liberals as hype or paranoia. Bottom line ... there can be absolutely no doubt that there is a very specific agenda on the part many Muslims who enter Europe as immigrants, and that agenda has nothing whatever to do with blending into the multi-cultural mosaic.
