B Imperial is correct. It's as useless to attempt rational dialog w/ defensive Islamists as it would be w/a person high on alcohol or drugs. Both have distorted relationships to objective truth. Both have distortions to self-awareness. Neither the objective or the subjective can be reliably reached because both are obscured .. in the addict's case obscured by drugs which make reality seem threatening and in the Islamist's case by projections of their own sense of inferiority onto infidels who in turn appear to be threatening to destroy Islam.
No one is doing as an effective job of destroying Islam as regressive Muslims. We are left only to protect ourselves from them (and moderates too cowardly to do what's right) throughout this sick process. While Islamists are caught in delusions (that they are increasingly willing to insanely act out) defensive war is completely appropriate.
The USA must continue to act purposefully towards eventual peace through all means available. It's too bad Markham & Ozdimir couldn't muster more thoughtfulness. Their lack manages to perpetuate the destruction of Islam they fantasize Dr. Pipes committing. Dr. Pipe's truthfulness does much to mitigate further destruction of Islam and of Western civilization's freedom. Islam needs to be able to imagine such a thing as a free state and free religious expression as simultaneously possible.
