As an Israeli I have had many arab friends; mostly devoted muslims, well educated and traveled. Their views are mostly for separation of politics from religion. The tragic situation is to see how afraid they are to express their views.
I grew up in Romania and lived under the fascists, that was the same thing then. Emancipated, well educated Roumanians (Christians), did not express their views nor did they attempt to swim against the stream for fear for their life.
It is tragic to see to what extent the jihadists have captured the religion and the politics, in total disregard for the wellbeing of their brothers. Their claim the world is against them is ...brought on with their own doings.
