On Trump's Rumored "Ultimate Deal" - by Dr.Martin Sherman

Reader comment on item: Why Israelis Shy from Victory

Submitted by Robert (United States), Sep 22, 2018 at 17:04

Dear Daniel Pipes,

Below are the specifics of a policy proposal for Israel by Dr. Martin Sherman after reflecting on the deeds of the current American administration under President Trump. Sherman, after a detailed analysis, essentially proposes that (1) Israel assume full sovereign over all of Samaria and Judea (the "West Bank"), and that (2) Palestinian Arabs be granted financial and economic incentives to re-settle in Arab countries.

Is that the sort of pro-active support you would support? Sherman argues that Palestinians reject any recognition of a Jewish Israel, so that granting any sovereignty to them between Jordan and the Israel would only create a foothold to exploit in the future to attack Israel.

"The rumored "ultimate deal": Potential payoffs and possible pitfalls"

"The potential impermanence of the positive measures already undertaken by the Trump team should not be the only reason for Israeli concern over the brewing 'ultimate deal.'"
