Reader comment on item: Why Israelis Shy from Victory

Submitted by Bisley (United States), Sep 5, 2018 at 14:36

A shorter, simpler explanation is that Israeli politics has become so leftist that no government that tried to destroy the terrorists could remain in power. Neither the Knesset, nor the military command would allow the actions necessary to win. Gen. Eizenkot is the face of a much worse problem -- leadership restricted by qualms such as he displays is not what it takes for Israel to continue winning wars, and preserve itself. Victory must come first -- winning, or losing is all that counts -- no one cares that things were conducted in a moral manner, if you lose.
