Reader comment on item: Radical Islam as Its Own Antidote[, Argues Reuel Gerecht]

Submitted by John (United States), Jun 23, 2005 at 17:56

What if we were to let Nazi fascism flourish in order to discredit it? Allow them to take over governments and commit unchecked genocide. Then the free world would become united once again against tyranny and injustice...

The answer is simple, many innocent people would suffer under this scenario. The same would apply to allowing Islamists to flourish and discredit themselves.

For some reason many people feel very threatened by the idea of right-wing fascist governments and barely blink an eye at the thought of an Islamist government. We need to discredit Islamist fascism as much as possible. The media and the general population should be weary of Islamists, not supportive of them. The only way to do that is by swaying public opinion against Islamist ideology, not promoting it.
