We have forgotten Hamas ideology

Reader comment on item: Why Does Hamas Want War?

Submitted by JACQUES HADIDA (United States), Jul 11, 2014 at 18:28

I loved your conclusion "Indeed, to dissuade it from initiating another assault in a few years, it needs to lose both the military and the political wars, and lose them very badly"

I will take it a step further, one must realize that Hamas ideology is the eradication of Israel and for that purpose, il will insist on sending all the 10.000 rockets they have until no one is left. Since Hamas has no respect for life, who cares if they lose 100 or 1000 people, the world must understand that they do not care, what is important for them is killing Jews. Their joy will be if one if their rockets hits a home and kills its occupants.

Daniel Pipes replies:

On the topic of those 10,000 rockets, here is what Lt. Col. Levi Itach, head of the military's early warning branch, has to say:

If we keep up what we are doing, there is a good chance that we will be able to lower the ratio to one death for every 10,000 rockets fired.

That being the case, those rockets won't do much damage.
