True Islam?Reader comment on item: Faces of American Islam[: Muslim Immigration] Submitted by Imran Khan (United States), Aug 22, 2002 at 14:33 How many times have I heard, as Amy (another post) said, "True Islam is all about moderation not violence"?How many times have I heard, "Some of my best friends are Jews, really."? How many times have I heard that "Christians are the closest to Islam"? If we do not want to learn from history, we should at least try to learn from what is going on today. Not one, Not one Imam of any stature has stood up and ever said that regardless of what Salman Rushdie said or did not say, offering reward for his murder was wrong! Where is the "tolerance" of Islam? Trying to be sensitive to the feelings of militant Muslims at this juncture of history would be a grevious mistake.
