Arabic is spoken by folk other than Muslims. Like the Latin, Greek and Farsi languages that preceded it Arabic has become a sort of Lingua Franca throughout the Middle East. I seriously doubt that you could "NOT" find a nonMuslim from the region who does not know Arabic at least to some greater degree than most westerners..
