The Ultimate IronyReader comment on item: Teach Arabic or Recruit Extremists? Submitted by Godot (recovered Muslim) (United States), Sep 7, 2007 at 15:05 I have been following the coverage of Khalil Gibran International Academy from the beginning. It struck me how these pious Muslims chose that name for their institution. The namesake was a rebellious poet who openly rejected all organized religions, all of them. As a young Muslim, I was discouraged to read this infidel's writings by many pious (again) teachers and mentors. I read his books anyway. I guess they chose that name due to its global appeal and fame but unfortunately, their agenda exposed them. It was a good try though! Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
