Leftist columnist David Ignatius writes good novels but his leftist's bias gets in the way of his news articles and a fortiori, his opinion pieces. It even shows up in his novels. See his last one, "The Increment" in which his chief protagonist prevents a President from commencing an "unnecessary" war in the Middle East.
