There are 1.2 billion Muslims, one fifth of the world population, patiently waiting for their civilization's "Day in the Sun". They may not be active combatants, but they support their warriors by silence, or by deflecting the focus to Islam's charities and benevolence (For Muslims only, of course). They also try to redirect blame for the Islamic war against the Infidels to actions of Israel or the US. This International Islamist War against the Infidels (WWIII) started in the 7th century.

In "A short History of Byzantium" by John Julius Norwich you can find a chronology of the Muslim "Attacks" against Western Civilization that started in 633 when "…the armies of Islam would begin the advance that was to take them, in the course of a single century, to within 150 miles of Paris and to the very gates of Constantinople." The Muslims were beaten back, but through persistance they finally defeated the Eastern Orthodox Christians and took Constantinople on Tuesday May 29, 1453. Europe kept them at bay with the Crusades, a defensive action against the Expanding Muslim land grab. Same War, 1400 years later, but now they have achieved "Critical Mass".
