Canadian vs. American politicsReader comment on item: Obama Wins, Muslims Divided Submitted by Geneva (Canada), Nov 26, 2008 at 17:09 Actually, "James from Canada," I have lived in both countries and I watched the U.S.A. take a sharp turn for the worse under the Reagan administration. If I'd been eligible to vote in the Canadian election, it would have been for Jack Layton. It was an NDP administration who is to thank for Canada's national health care plan. As for being "protected by water," in my experience Canadians are far more informed on international politics than Americans, most of whom apparently get their news from Faux TV and other sources that have imbedded CIA interns in the newsroom. The difference in quality is immediately obvious whenever I visit across the border. CBC is a great Canadian national resource, and is THE source of new and communication for many people who live in the Far North. I only regret that its funding for local programming has been drastically cut. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
