Reply to comment on Indians, American economyReader comment on item: Terrorism Troubles [i.e. George Galloway enthuses for Barack Obama] Submitted by Straight_Talk_Luigi (United States), Jul 6, 2008 at 22:16 Mr. Al-Mutairy, I honestly thought you were above painting a group of people with such a broad brush. As far as the American economy goes, well, if it wasn't for our five-company oil monopoly, I wonder how OPEC, which Turkey is not a member of, would be doing these days. But regarding Turkey, I wonder who needs who more. Just keep in mind that Greece isn't a threat to us. Let me put it to you this way: China has people but not the developed financial resources that we have in the States nor the energy infrastructure. Russia is a second-world nation where numerous males suffer from alcohol abuse and where women hardly have any children. Not exactly the best partners to do business with. Sure, the future looks bright for the Chinese middle class, and perhaps Russia can muster a short burst, but truth be told, neither has the infrastructure that we have--namely capitalism. Communist China, were consumerism is discouraged, is also something to consider. I think that Turkey (I'm assuming that's who you mean by "we") is smarter than that. I would imagine they think more along the lines I do, because their interest is mostly in the prosperity of their state, not to thumb their nose at their own expense.
