Reader comment on item: [Michael Barkun on] Old Conspiracies, New Beliefs

Submitted by R. Lynn Kelley (United States), Jan 14, 2004 at 11:48

Mr. Pipes,

I must tell you that I derive no great comfort from the realization that we have been enslaved by unrelated, coincidental, random acts of tyranny. I guess this means it is our fault that we allowed sleazy politicians, unscrupulous lawyers, pointed headed intellectuals and university professors who worship their Mommies and Karl Marx, and greedy mercantilists who never met an oligopoly they didn't like to trash our inalienable rights endowed by our Creator. I can deal with it.

Please tell Washington and NASA they are wasting their time and our money. They still think there are some little green men out there somewhere. Also, in light of this profound revelation, I think it is appropriate for us to begin to take responsibility for our plight and generate some unrelated, coincidental, random acts of our own to counter those that are detrimental to our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

Best Regards
R. Lynn Kelley
