islam in world history-will it contain the last 50 years?

From what i've read on islamic history, they tend to exclude anything in the last 200 years and especially in the last 50. The issue of jihad is a touchy subject but after recent events i can't believe people are still burying their heads in the sand. I'll be very interested on follow up articles on how these courses go, there content, and topics.
