In response to Zahra b.Reader comment on item: The Veil Unveiled: The Hijab in Modern Culture Submitted by S. (United States), Oct 27, 2003 at 17:59 Dear Zahra B.If you had read what I had written 14 months ago carefully, then you would have realized that I was not disgracing anything, but was merely posing a question, which I am entitled to pose given that it is my right to question and even criticize certain notions. I will remind you that you have, yourself, taken the liberty of criticizing me for being honest and true to what I have witnessed. Upon having written "Hijab: its vast meanings and uses" I presented issues that I had been investigating this past year. My views have changed on some of these. First of all, miss, I commend you for your decision to dress in accordance with your concept of propriety. Secondly, there are many people belonging to the same faith in this world who differ in their interpretation of what the rules and correct practices of it are. You are not in a position, either, to label anyone as a true Muslim or not a true Muslim. Yours Truly, Sanam Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
