Hijab is to protect a woman from unwanted gestures or even molestation. It is for respect, not for their disrespect. I have a hard time believing your story. Perhaps it is not a story, but I doubt real Muslim men are so violent if at all. As close in time as the 1930's or so, perhaps even later, even Christian woman had to wear a head scarf (hijab). Even in the Bible, Jesus said, a woman should cover her hair, and if not she would be better off shaving it off bald. Hijab is a way to protect a woman from unwanted sexual harrasment. May I ask why you are so negative about this? Please note, I did not say anything to offend you, and that I am being logical, truthful and honest.
