Look at what is happeningReader comment on item: The Veil Unveiled: The Hijab in Modern Culture Submitted by Ramin B. (United States), Apr 28, 2004 at 20:27 It's good to hear all your comments. I live in Canada right now, but was in Paris in September. I saw the protests that took place with respect to the ban on hijab in secular academic institutions and I agree with what Sanam said earlier about this issue. If you don't like western customs, then get out---it is quite plain and simple. Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan under the Taliban provide a great base for backwardness and oppression, if that is what you prefer to secularism and advances in people's intellectual capacity. We don't need extremism in the form of rhetoric, terrorism, or even dress in the west. So Zahra, please observe your way of dress where it is welcome. We saw enough of it in Iran.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
