I believe that OPEC is attempting to use oil as a weapon of Jihad. It is also entirely possible that they are using oil profits to buy into our economy.

However, there is a chance that the price of oil may have "blowback" consequences as we do not have to be in this situation.

We could (1) build nuclear energy plants using French technology which results in low-level nuclear waste, (2) open new oil fields in Alaska, (3) gasify coal, (4) push solar and wind energy, and (5) quit trying to make bio-fuels from corn and start using switch grass and hemp. Hemp may be in the same botantical family as "weed"; but both tomatoes and potatoes are in the nightshade family which includes the highly poisonous deadly nightshade.
