Another disappointment.....Titles over substance

Reader comment on item: James Baker's Terrible Iraq Report

Submitted by No Dhimmi (United States), Dec 12, 2006 at 12:01

I'm not surprised that this group has made recommendations that make little, if no sense. None have a background in the Middle East or Iraq for that matter. We continue with our Ethnocentric view of the world and fail to include/consult those who are more knowledgeable in such areas.

It reminds me of the blunder of putting Mr. Bremer in charge of remaking Iraq. He had no experience in the complex nuances of the Middle East. He was given a two week brief on the area. And what did we get, two devastating decisions that have contributed to the quagmire we are in today. The dismantling of the Iraqi army and the exclusion of Ba'athists from the Government. The idea of asking Iran's and Syria's help to assist with stabalizing the country is like asking a drug dealer to help with detox. If this is the kind of intellectual forethought the American people can expect from it's leaders in Washington, then the Jihadist/Islamists must be laughing at our stupidity and thanking us for helping them. God help us.
