Reader comment on item: NATO Fights the Jihadis

Submitted by Edgar Malcolm Ervin (United States), Oct 3, 2006 at 12:21

Dear Mr. Pipes,

You get it! I cannot say that for a full 99% of the writers that I am interested in reading. For as long as I can remember I have been involved with NATO. You are correct in saying that Nato's role is evolving and should. Mr. Asnar is still one of our best allies and was a good supporter of NATO. He gets it.

I am sorry to say that the only people who understand what NATO's emerging role will be or could be are the persons that value the alliance. For my reasons we should put NATO at the forefront on the war on terror and make this a real team effort. I would immediately bring in Israel (IF THEY WOULD ACCEPT AND NATO WOULD LISTEN CAREFULLY TO THE ADVICE GIVEN). There is no country on this planet that executes counter terror missions with the effectiveness that Israel does. WOW!!! WHAT A SUPERPOWER WE WOULD SEE THEN WHEN ISRAEL BECOMES A NATO ALLY. THIS WOULD ABSOLUTELY SHAKE RUSSIA AND CHINA TILL THEIR TEETH CHATTERED. THESE TWO COUNTRIES ARE OUR ENEMY TILL MESSIAH COMES AND LET US NOT FORGET THAT.

Russia and China are the top cheerleaders for Iran, North Korea, Syria and all splinter cells sponsered by these countries. It has been my greatest pleasure in life to have worked along with Israel's intelligence groups. Israel is the missing link that NATO needs. I am sure that the terriorists would be quivering and on their knees 10 times a day toward Mecca knowing that NATO has Israel. I say turn Nato and Israel loose on the world of terriorism and see the immediate results.
