I'm sorry to hear of his death, but there are two things for me that stand out from this story:

1) Angelo Frammartino was clearly in over his head. His missplaced idealism put him in harm's way. He should've never been there.

2) The "I'm sorry I killed your son, I meant to murder someone else" is NOT A VALID EXCUSE! It should make no difference whatsoever to the courts as to whether you assassinated your intended political/racial/religious target or not. If the murder is found to be premeditated in any way, it is murder in the first degree irrespective of the victim.

That's it I think.
