Reader comment on item: Thoughts on the Israeli Incursion into Gaza

Submitted by Robert Solot (Mexico), Jun 30, 2006 at 14:25

I've been following Dr. Pipes's views on this for some time and have come to agree with him. Now he says his advice has become "operational". In reading both Israeli and Palestinian declarations these days, I would have to agree. Olmert has followed through so far on his promises and this is hopeful for me. But, does Dr. Pipes really think that it's happening? That Olmert will not blink?

Daniel Pipes replies:

No, while I re-offered these tactics because there is now talk of a tougher approach to the PA., I am deeply pessimistic about Olmert and his government in this regard.
