Reader 'myth;' you have answered your own inquiry with only the partial objective of teh answer that is required.
In a decidedly American perspective, freedom is the key; but as it is written; freedom is not free.
The society that seeks peace for its residents (not necessarily citizens) has only one course it must take in order to assure that life lived free requires submission, not to tyranny as many suppose; but a sacrifice of one yielding the sense that the life of a neighbor is worh protecting and laws justifying that were written for the security of one in a way that justifies security for all. It is a legal precept that is acceptable in any freedom seeking society such as that which the founders of America sought to protect from the insidious attacks of those that hated the Divine principles and attempted to wreck America from the beginning. That continues to this day; today's successors from the Marxists' beginnings through the Nationalist Socialists (fascists) attempts to disrupt the American way to freedom (even in the attempts to pervert the religious aspect), to the modern ambitions of secularistic purges of religious endeavors, all have had their effects made shown and who are the ones that will survive these attacks on freedom if there is no legal defense?
