- What you are referring to as "Stalinist buildings" is actually featuring a very nice and clean example of Art Deco (in the middle)
- Abstract art cannot be confined to serving lefty politics (whatever any particular practitioner thereof may have had on his mind) - it is about making the viewer into a co-creator and co-conspirator
- It's plain wrong to compare Renaissance art, filtered out for centuries (and then 90% of museum collections from said period still being unadulterated garbage), with what's produced today. 95% of it has to be "dreck", as you put it, Biennale or not, but Biennale is what launched many a deservingly distinguished carrier - just take the recently deceased Howard Hodgkin, a true giant of the late XX century painting
