Sad, but not surprising

Dear Dr. Pipes,

I'm not surprised to read your story. To me, mainly in the last 10-15 years, it was always a matter of "when" not of "if". UK has long been an antagonistic political entity regarding Israel and the Jewish People. Since 1920 It maintains a hostile approach via a vis Zionism - the Jewish national freedom and self determination movement.

It was quite obvious to those who reviewed UK's conduct against the Jewish people during its' Mandate in Palestine, during WWII and thereafter until it was forced to leave Palestine in 1948. Since the Israeli declaration of independence on 14th of May 1948, UK almost consistently, maintained a pro-Arabic and anti-Israeli policy. Recently it gradually turned into a rather fully anti-Semitic approach, mainly among members of the Labor Party.
The event you describe in your message, is a step ahead in a process of grave decay in the British liberal society. Antisemitism and arbitrary discrimination of ethnic, ideological or theological groups, were always a reliable indicator of a quite risky social developments. It was also an alarm as well as a call for the more moderate segments of said society to react. Recently Britain show strong disturbing signs, that it cannot or does not want to hear those alarms, which by itself is a serious problem.

I believe that apart from drawing attention of people like me to the further rapid decomposition of the UK society, is there anything you expect or suggest your readers to do now?

Sincerely yours,
Rafi Laufert
