Obama leads by giving impulse with a taste for irreversible short time results

Reader comment on item: The One-Minute Guide to Obama's Foreign Policy

Submitted by myth (Germany), Oct 14, 2015 at 00:15

Obama leads by giving impulse on the world stage not by a sustained effort. As he has no personal interest in foreign policy he shoots at the short term goal. Not at all shooting at random he aims at results that cannot possibly reversed. That guarantees him a lasting effect even though he had no long term plan to begin with.

To use an English phrase: He is not just kicking the can down the road. He kicks it loud , kicks it only once across the fence from which it cannot return. But the can will inevitably start rolling wherever downhill will take it and keep rolling for some time with considerable noise.

I find it quite irresponsible to go for the irreversible with so many policies. I smell a good dose of vanity in Obama's approach.
