rockets out of nowhere?

Reader comment on item: Why Does Hamas Want War?

Submitted by Tanja Faust (Germany), Aug 29, 2014 at 20:22

"Out of nowhere" Hamas launched rockets? So everything was easygoing and peaceful before? The border blockade for even the most basic requirements? Not even painkiller medicine allowed in. What about the theft of the scarce palestinian water? Although the ceasefire from december 2012 generally held, the embargo on Gaza continued in direct violation of the ceasefire agreement. Sick people dying at the border because they are not allowed to go for the necessary medical treatment. And what about all the "normal" air strikes, what about the shootings of civilians who dare to work on their land in the so called buffer zone? You call that "out of nowhere"? That shows that you don't care a bit about "them".

Daniel Pipes replies:

This is silly. Many full trucks of supplies leave Israel each day bound for Gaza. There is no blockade. Gaza could prosper if its rulers did not try to subvert Egypt and eliminate Israel.
