Reader comment on item: A Century of African-American Islam

Submitted by Sheila Seabreeze-Bey (United States), Feb 14, 2014 at 09:50

I reread the article and first I would like to say the Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple is a compilations of previous written records. However it is written to address the needs and characters of the ailments of those labeled negro, black, colored etc..... It was meant to prepare us mentally and spiritually before we attempted to read the Holy Koran of Mecca and practice Islam. Our condition hopelessness, inferiority feeling less than the European counter parts of this country. I know Noah Webster was the father of English language defined a Black-a-Moor as a negro. Take off the black and what is left. We are in competition for people to unite with us as an alternative but as a solution to the residuals of slavery. I always emphasize that we have a Constitutional purpose signed into law by the Great Emancipator Abraham Lincoln. We need to be more than consumers and take our rightful place among the family of nations.
