Egypt Air Crash Was NOT Islamic Terrorism !

Reader comment on item: Denying [Islamist] Terrorism

Submitted by Mary Lynn Mimouna (Morocco), Feb 24, 2005 at 17:16

I am an American woman living in Morocco. My mother, Jan Duckworth, was killed on the Egypt Air Crash. Yes, the pilot committed suicide, and said, "I rely on God," as he was crashing the plane. For a long time there was no REASON that I could see WHY he would do that, until eventually some information leaked out. I am completely satisfied with the eventual result.

The answer which eventually satisified me is that the man who crashed the plane was to be relieved of his job after this particular flight, due to extremely bizarre behavior that had been going on for some time (exposing himself out of hotel windows, frequently strip joints, propositioning hotel maids, etc.). Egypt Air personnel (specifcally his immediate boss, who was also on the SAME flight) made a BIG mistake in TELLING him that he would be relieved immediately upon his return to Egypt. He was six months from retirement, and his entire family was dependent upon him. When told, the night before, "This will be your LAST flight," he reportedly muttered, to the superior who told him, "This will be YOUR last flight, TOO." Many months later, this was reported by someone who was present to hear the conversation. So, the way I see it, this incident was no different than the disgruntled employees, who are fired, and come back to shoot up people in their workplace, or shoot up people in a McDonald's restaurant. It was the same. He probably figured that was his revenge against the company for what they did to him, and the deaths of the passengers would only hurt Egypt Air more. It was a revenge killing against Egypt Air. They should have waited to tell him until AFTER his last flight. But who knows--maybe the relations between the two men were not good, and his superior was just "itching" to tell him the bad news.

I just wanted to clear this up for people who have never gotten the true story.
