Reader comment on item: The Hagel Nomination: An Open Letter to Sen. Charles E. Schumer

Submitted by Jon, a Brit in Euroland (France), Feb 20, 2013 at 09:37

Mr. Pipes,

I just wanted to thank you deeply for your above letter to Sen Schumer. I am not American, but really feel very close to the US since my days at Graduate School at UCSD. This man Hagel is truly bad news for the world in general, but for the US in particular, as with these times of relative austerity it is less by force of arms that the US will keep its influence, but by strength of character, and transparent decency. Hagel cannot stand in the light and be seen for such qualities as he has not exhibited in the past.
