For the Arab Spring/Israel/Democracy discussion portion:

Reader comment on item: Islam, Israel and Insurgents

What shows through clearly, in true liberal form, is the critical theorists from Western countries who criticize the systems of Western liberal democracy with no constructive arguments. To quote Churchill: "It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried."

And the self-hatred shows through by the disturbing applause of such knee-jerk criticism and the jeers from the audience of the simple facts which Dr. Pipes puts forth.

The spin is breathtaking. For Doug Cameron to say that Israel's defense against years of terror rockets is not justified, or to outright LIE that phosphorus bombs are intended to burn kids(it's used to create smoke during urban warfare and its use is legal in that regard) shows us how far down the rabbit hole has Western liberal intelligentsia gone - Cameron is neither liberal nor intelligent.

And for Hanifa Deen to be unable to hide her irrational hatred for Israel to the point where she can see no evidence of democracy in use in Israel makes me wonder why it doesn't seem possible to find panelists who can assimilate information and make rational discussion based on reality.

Suelette Dreyfus implies that Israel is on some kind of dole, while the opposite is the truth. The US gains at least to 20 times the amount of "aid" given to Israel in intel saved, plus many other benefits. MOst "aid" is a business transaction between the countries, unlike the true dole given by the US taxpayer to the Arab world. Stating a fact is "mischief-making", according to Dreyfus.

The mythology runs rampant, the spin creates people's reality. This is no longer an age in which rational thought has much weight. Western democracy in the discussion is clearly the villain in this discussion. Mockery is the most common tactic available to aid liberals' ideological judgments, while amazingly they are calling for balance in the discussions.
